By a name i'm Oludare, and by a nickname i'm the great KINGwax. I use
to see the name 'KINGwax' as a great writer and philosopher, and so i
am.
Right from my secondary school I've been a parasite! Always sucking on
the sap from my parent's tree instead of falling off to be a tree of
my own. What i have forgotten was the fact that when my parents time
is come, so will be mine. It was quite efficacious for me to do while
in the secondary level, since much is not expected to be done. But
when i finished my first diploma(national diploma), i started riding
on the consequences.
My industrial training(I.T) was expected to start immediately after
the last papers of my first diploma. And so with joy, i gave my I.T
letter to my parents with the usual tone,"kindly find me a suitable
place to do my I.T", since i know my dad to be of some meaningful
influence. And so at home i sat, waiting for the letter to yield a
report. Every night when my dad is back from work, i always request a
form of progress report in this manner, "so, how is it?"
"how is what?" he had once replied. "the I.T letter i gave to you! Has
there been any progress in any way?" most times he had forgotten, and
while he hasn't, he is always telling me to be patient that it will
work out". At this stage, it is imperative for me to let you understand
that my dad has the propensity of quickly helping the strangers, but
of his own, he always believed there's no problem. And truly there
ain't, but until it appears like an embarrassment, he'll never run.
It became dawn on me after being sated with siestas and food, and
after my eyes became sore from watching movies, that no help will come
on time. My sister waited on him for 3good years before she busted
outside and secured herself a job. And so, after being stupid for
6months, i secured a teaching job instead of a construction job. The
next year was to be my year of admittance into the Higher national
diploma program. And so i asked my dad to see if one of his friends
could be of a help in making sure my admission will be smooth. He did,
and the fellow asked me to obtain the form. Without hesitation, i did.
I sent my scratch card to a family friend at the cyber cafe to fill the
from for me and send me the printed one i'm supposed to keep. He did
as instructed and was later not admitted, bc os the course in which i
asked him to fill could not be done with the previous knowledge i had
with my national diploma.
I obtained another form with the help of a friend the following year
without a visit to the school. On the submission of the application
form(which is by hand), i found out that i could have applied there if
i had taken my time to obtain the from myself. This left me wasting
3good years. And i learn t my lesson. The following year, i went into
the school in which I've now graduated from as a building technology
student to obtain the form by myself. And even while in school, i
faced so many challenges. The major of which is the issue of I.T that
i had failed to do. All lecturers assumed that we all had our at least
six months industrial training experience, and so all assumed to had
been learned was never relayed or taught over. I had to run and
struggled to keep up with pace by asking lots of questions from
experienced friends. I always feel lost. And at the end, God helped me
emerged as the best student in building technology department, ibadan
polytechnic chapter, 2008/2009 graduants.
But the past still hunts. Many employers has asked for some experience
before accepting to pay your expected salary, or to say no bluntly!
